We started with some simple Save the Date postcards. Alison and Andy both have a love of music and wanted to create a vintage theme so the aim was to combine ‘music and love’ in an ‘old-fashioned’ way.
We then worked up some concepts for the main invitations – including a little heart motif made up of musical notation.
We decided it would be fun to include a large vinyl record-shaped fridge magnet with a picture of the happy couple on so people could keep the wedding details handy. The front of the card included a pocket with a circular window like a record-sleeve to hold the ‘record’ decorated with a spiral of musical notes.
Then inside, was all the event info along with further details about local accommodation, the location, gift ideas and an RSVP card with envelope.
For the evening guests, we created a simplified card-only version to economise on costs whilst retaining the theme.
For the big day itself, I used a similar design for the Orders of Service – I made more use of the plain font for this to help people read the words nice and easily in church and just used the main script font for titles and headings.
Then for the reception, I created name cards, seating-plan cards and table-centre name cards with a vintage film-star theme. Andy made a large film clapper-board to represent the room for the seating plan. It was the most beautiful day!
